A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Whangarei, New Zealand by TravelPod blogger Awsome titled "Day 2 - Orewa to Whangarei" Awsome's travel blog entry: "Departed Orewa Campsite and travelled up the Hibiscus Highway coast road heading for Pakiri. Fantastic scenery all around and had to negotiate some seriously steep mountain roads to get to where we were headed but was it worth it! Absolutely spectacular views. Pakiri campsite is situated at the end of a long dirt track and was rather difficult to negotiate in the van but we managed it eventually. Had a lovely pick nick by a small wet lands area and then went for a walk on the beach, but it was quite cool as a strong wind had risen. Temperature was nice in the sun but dam cold when clouds came over. Passed through a lot of small towns, one of which was called Brynderwyn!! Arrived at Whangarei at around 4:30 and checked into Alpha Holiday park. Very quiet camp site considering it is located in an urban area. Distance travelled around 210 Km."
